Atlanta's Nasty Nest

Fuck Cooke. This has to be worth 5 games based on the league wanting to curb shots to the head.'

id give him in the 10ish range.

dirty hit, no intention whatsoever other than to knock the guy into next tuesday.

HATE shots to the head...absolutely hate it.

It's no different than Richards? shot to David Booth's noodle when Philly played against Florida. Which didn't get suspended.

I like/hate Cooke for this reason, he plays right on the line, but sometimes he crosses the line and it turns out really bad. His knee to knee on Shean Donovan earlier this season and this incident against Savvy are two instances where he crossed the line.

Colin Campbell will suspend him 3 games because he hit a "star" player in the league.

the camera angle wasnt great but it looked like he just hit him right in the head.......although the comments section which im assuming were all Pens fans swore it was a legal hard hit.....another reason to dislike Cooke and Im sure being a Penguin the league will look the other way.

I certainly hope Colin Campbell takes Cooke's previous behavior into account when dropping the hammer.

BTW JR how's the foot coming along? Can you get around on it?

Cooke had every chance to simply hit Savard on the hip, side or shoulder and targeted his head. That is a clear attempt to hit a players head it is simply a matter of changing his angle. It should be 5 games but will be 3. This is a situation where not only the league should have punative powers but thew NHLPA should be involved as well. Yes it is one of the members hurting another member but if the PA were to demand a couple of games above whatever Campbell were to give it might start getting the attention fo a few of these idiots.

I enjoy the hitting aspect of the game but the shots to the head when a shoulder or hip are just as available as a target needs to stop.

I agree with this 100%. my personal feeling is that all hits to the head should be a suspension but for some reason the NHL hasn't agreed. I thought that Cooke lead with the elbow but nobody else is saying that, everybody's saying "shoulder". I don't see where that's any better (those shoulder caps are HARD!) but by the rules it is.

I can crutch around. So far I haven't tried to drive. I'm currently in a soft spling, but this wednesday I'm getting either a hard cast or a walker boot/cast which will protect my foot better and I can resume being a little more mobile than playing Nascar '09 or Tiger Woods Adulterer Golf '09 on the PS2.

The only ones saying that are the ones sitting there in their stained Crosby pjs. His arm is in the way of his shoulder. Either those people are blind of in denial. The NHL has set precidents for this in the past unfortunately.

unfortunate timing right before the NHL GM meeting. Cooke will get at least 5 games

Word is Cooke gets off scott free just like Richards. At least they are consistent.......
It happens next year then repeat offenders get stiffer penalties.
Savard may be out for the rest of the season.
If the Bruins play the Pens again, I'd look for some payback.
Hell I'd pay to see it.

Apparently you're totally right. Campbell said they couldn't hand out anything since Richards didn't get anything. One thing they said on XM was that unlike Richards, Cooke is a repeat offender and could have used that as a defense for handing Cooke a suspension. Regardless, next year things will be different.

Sean Avery utters a phrase that can be used on Nickelodeon, gets an indefinite suspension. Cooke tries to decapitate a player. Nothing.

Somethings amiss.
