Atlanta's Nasty Nest

DW is saying that there's only going to be two goalies here. I don't know if that means someone's going to be down in Chicago for the rest of the season. Otherwise, I wouldn't be surprised to see Moose moved cause he'll get the most in the trade, plus Moose won't be a longterm solution to our goalie situation.

Pavs is still in his entry deal so moving him to Chicago does not require waivers.

Kari is seemingly done here, the most talented of the three but sitting in the press box it does us no good.

Moose may be having his best year, sell while value is high?

This is tough without knowing what the market for goalies is really going to be, with Biron out there it will be a buyer market at the trade deadline.

Pavs is untouchable, no one moves young talented goalies who have played 51 NHL games unless you have two of them.

So it comes down to Kari and Moose. The ever professional vet who has been the players player a couple of times and who is having a career year or the extreemly talented goalie who has proven fragile. We almost have to keep all three in the organization until Kari gets a few starts since no one is going to trade for him until he proves that he will not hurt himself putting on his pads.

I hope that what ever is decided is not done too quickly! This decision could help or hurt this team for some years to come.

I completely agree, although with Kari now playing plus the trade deadline, it's going to make it difficult.

Just a follow up in regards to this and what was said at the town hall.

It was pretty clear that Kari is as good as gone, I am fairly sure he will not even play another game here. DW said he is Very happy with the goaltending and went as far as to say that it has been to a strong point for the team. I am not saying Kari is the savior but if the is any hope for playoffs and a solid goalie Pavs is not it yet. I am not convinced that a deal should not be made at the deadline? I am fairly sure Ravs can be sent to Chicago all day long with no fear of losing him but yet that is not the case here.

I think Moose has done a hell of a job here but he hits the wall after starting three or so starts in a row...

Here is my email in case you wanted to see it...

Karri. That was the only thing i regret saying, kari is a good person and doesn't get hurt on purpose...I would disagree about pav, for a 22 year old goalie I think he has been fine. Thanks for coming out and sharing your thoughts with me,
Don

Dear Don,
I was shocked to hear you say that our goaltending is fine right now. I think Moose has played really great but Pavelic has struggled for most of the season. Now in all fairness I am not suggesting Lehtonen is the answer but to throw him under the bus and to not allow for him to play another game here seems short sighted, I hope you will be looking for an upgrade in goal at the trade deadline at the very least!

Man, I have to say, for all the crap that people want to give DW for doing things wrong in the past, you really have to be impressed with someone who is willing to email and converse with the fans like that.
I have a feeling the organization has grown tired of Kari and his issues at this point, especially after the timing of his surgery. I have serious questions as to whether he was staying up on his injury and that is why he has surgery so late in summer. If he'd been seeing doctors about it, they would have suggested it long before then. Also, it doesn't seem like DW is buying into the whole "I'm better now" comments by Kari. But hey, I'm not in his head so what do I know?
As for Pavs, there have been games where he outright stolen two points for us this season. As for his abilities, I see his lateral movement as being his real issue. That's something he can work on here. As far as rebounds go, I'm not as worried about that because with our d and forwards playing better now so they are there to take care of those. Plus most times he's depositing them in low traffic areas like the corners. I don't see the same goalie as before that was getting rattled after giving up a goal. He seems to come back to make a big save right afterwards.

Personally, I think they will showcase Kari by playing him in 2 of the next 3 games. They probably don't see us losing points to the West (Colorado, Minnesota, & Chicago) as being as bad as losing to the East where the teams are so close. Granted they don't really want to lose any but this is just a thought. I'd like to see Moose in Colorado & Chicago and Pavs in Minnesota. Deb and I are going to the Minnesota and Chicago games and don't want to be heckled too badly leaving the arenas!!! Pray for us!!!

Ahhh man that awesome. You guys have fun. I wouldn't think it would be too bad, especially with Chicago being our affiliate. Plus people from Minnesota are nice and will probably be impressed you came up.

Oops mentioned this in the other Kari thread but it looks like Kari didn't make the trip to Colorado.
I guess he is being traded

There's some talk that Vishnevsky (sp) and a pick might be coming back in the trade. If so that's a great deal for us. Real up and coming dman

Looks like both the Stars #1 prospect Vishnevsky and a 4th rounder for Kari. If this is the case Dw might want to look out for detectives at the office or home because he just stole from the Stars.

Suddenly we have 2 1st round picks, 1 2nd, 1 3rd, 2 4ths in a deep draft and we have not moved any of the three prime players DW is going to talk to over the break. We could end up with 5 picks in the top 2 rounds, wonder if some of that could get a player from Chicago?
